| Don’t Hate on Nacho, JM Marquez Gives Him Seal of Managerial Approval Looks Forward to Pacquiao Rematch

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA – Imagine, you are the manager of Juan Manuel Marquez, he had a historic draw against Manny Pacquiao, you are offered a rematch by Top Rank to fight Manny Pacquiao.
You do not like the money, tell Senior arum, no gracias, Erik Morales steps in, and the rest is history.
To make matters worse, Marquez then travels to the Indonesia and suffers a defeat against Chris John, for less money than he would have made in the Pacquiao rematch.
As you know, this is the exact same scenario Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain, trainer and manager to Marquez, navigated and as you have read, the American boxing media has had a field day with his decisions.
This afternoon, during the Marquez v. Marco Antonio Barrera press conference, Juan Manuel took the time to share his thoughts on Nacho.
“I read all the negative reports and I am glad you are asking about this,” said Juan Manuel, “Nacho is the best trainer in the world and manager.”
Jaime Quiñtana, co-promoter of Juan Manuel, along with Golden Boy Promotions, agrees with Marquez.
“He is one of the best, he has been in boxing for so long, he knows how to do things. A lot of people, who do not know about the old-school of boxing, have negative things to say. But trust me, Nacho knows how to handle a fighter’s career,” said Quiñtana
“In every decision,” said Marquez, “Nacho communicates with me and discusses the situation. I cannot emphasize what a great manager and trainer he has been to me. Just because you turn down money, or a fighter loses, does not mean that you are a bad trainer.”
But what about the rematch with Pacquiao? Their heated twelve round draw is a thing of legend, with the images of Marquez getting knocked down three times in round one, only to battle the Filipino over the remainder of the fight.
“I want a rematch,” said Marquez, “that draw is like a small thron in the paw of a lion. I want to remove the thorn, but first I need to focus all my energies on Barrera.”

| Cummon', Marquez.. You're manager is the most idiot manager in boxing history... Why did he turn down a low risk high reward fight against Pacquiao in Vegas($750,000) and accept a high risk low reward ($30,000) fight against a certain Chris John in Indonesia? You're a chicken like your fellow mexican Barrera... |

| The way JMM is defending Nacho, it sounds like maybe it was JMM that made the decision to turn down the rematch. |

| Pacquiao-Marquez fight was not a historic draw. Marquez lost in that fight. Marquez must be very thankful to the judge who made a mistake in his score sheet. |

Niel from Cebu is correct. The JMM-MP I was not really a draw in the strict technical sense.
JMM must be thankful to that judge who committed an error in the computation of the scores. It should have been a win in favor of the PACMAN. Rules should be amended so that errors like that can be properly rectified to give due where real credit is due. JMM must admit – with all honesty – that he really lost that fight.
I cannot see the logic why an admitted error – the judge admitted the error - should remain in the books. An error is an error. THE WORLD KNOWS THAT!!!! The JMM side and everybody else, for that matter, should stop that nonsense that the JMM-MP fight was a draw.

| Is the Marquez camp really interested in a rematch with Pacquiao? I ask this because that could have happened last year if only Team Marquez did not ask that Juan Manuel be paid, something like, US$1.5 million to finally determine who between Marquez and Pacquiao is the better fighter. At this point a return bout between Juan Manuel and Manny may no longer take place because of the strong possibility that Marquez would lose to Barrera in their up-coming encounter. |

I think JMM will be remembered as the most coward fighter in the history of boxing. The rematch with Pacquiao will be like a nightmare to him that will recur every now and then... Now that Pacquiao is getting bigger, this will make him feel restless. Until the time that he will have to face this demon. Whether he will win or loss, he will be sufficed of what will be the outcome...
JMM must face this demon otherwise he will be devoured by this nightmare... hope it will not make his psychological well being affected... but in evading this demon, he chose to fight lesser Filipino foes like Jimrex Jaca... Eventually, it gave him a temporary euphoria but later on it will still occur...
Face your demon Johnny ... |

Marquez is just lucky that a legal problem came into picture after the Pacquiao-Morales III fight, because of the miscalculation of Team Paquiao.
It is not a credit to "Natcho",nothing at all. Maybe he is a good trainer but after what happend (the failed rematch with Pacquiao)and the fight in Indonesia, I dont think he can be considered a good manager.
Instead, Marquez should give credit to Manny's miscalculation. If not for it, he could have retired with that memory of being knock down 3 times by Paquiao.
Now, in the twilight years of his carreer, he has a chance to redeem himself. But only if he get past Barrera.
So this coming fight between the two is very interesting. Their agonizing experience with Pacquiao is their common motivition to come up as winner. Unfortunately there will be only one winner and whoever will be, will have to face the reallity, and that is end of their boxing carreer.

Mr. Marquez,
You almost got beaten in your last fight against a Filipino "neophyte" Jimrex Jaca. You are over the hill as a boxer. Your fight against Pacquiao was not a draw. Manny won that fight! I bet you will retire without ever removing the thorn in your fragile claws. |

| A son always defends his father at those poeple who criticize him, even if his father is an embarassment. That's what Marquez is doing right now. It's like, he wants a brand new toy (Pac), and the toy is being offered affordably (Arum), but the father bought his son just a candy. Hehe, Nacho's the best manager? I don't think so.. |

i think what marquez is trying to say is beristain just tried to save him from a possible bad-beating he would receive from pac. |

I can see no logical reason why Beristain turned down a 'USD750K' to fight a 'well known' Pacquiao in 'US' then decided to travel long way to 'Indonesia' to fight 'less known' Chris John for only 'USD30K'. We don't need an Einstein to figure out the equation here.
Marquez will no way blame Beristain for the mess because he himself welcome the decision. He realized the danger of facing Pacquiao again (because Pacman knows he has robbed of a win by an incompetent judge) and sensed that PacMan will not let him standing until the end of 12 rounds had they fought again. This is a typical example of a dog with tail in between his legs running as fast as he can and as far (imagine the distance of Indonesia) as his feet will take him.
Unless Nacho offers a concrete and valid justifications why he made those decisions it will remain a black eye on his managerial career. I wander why Mr. Lois don't dig deeper and grill Nacho so you can have a more interesting article instead of putting this NON-SENSE one.
Mr. Lois should learn how to as HOW and WHY. How come accepting this one is better than that one? Why you have to go there when you can stay here? And so on and so forth. If Beristain can able to answer that and we see it printed here not only we might come to believe that he is a good manager but also we will know that Lois is doing his job. Isn't it Mr. Marley?
Attention Mr. Marley: Just an unsolicited advice I think you should remind your people to be more creative and more inquisitive just like you are. Heheheh.

What can i say, Marquez trainor manager is not that 100% stupid accepting the 30,000 over 750,000 dollars why?
Because facing 'd king of the ring PACMAN, can be means bone fructure, eternal bleeding, fragmented ribs, flaming bruises, or may be a artery explosion in the brain... exagerated but it can happen. For this reason Marquez manager is thinking,... thinking for Marquez future and looking forward for a better and more higher purse, MILLIONS!!! In facing the PACMAN.
Because of undominating performance of Marquez in Indonesia the trainor manager of Marquez became stupid! Maybe Marquez won that fight but Indonesia is the hometown of John and "hometown decision was expected"... that lost he suffer the image of Marquez was draw! COWARD by not facing PACMAN! Regards to Marquez manager lack of intelect by picking the 30,000 over the better 750,000 wealth. I'snt that STUPID!!!
The consalation prize of Marquez is that he did not fought a thai in THAILAND if that's happen he will lost with a miles... miles...miles of margin even he knockout his opponent.hehehe!!!

| The main reason y JMM's camp turned down that big offer of Pacquiao's camp for a rematch bcoz JMM is not prepared thats y JMM's camp neglect the offer and fly to Indonesia to fight his asian contender and yet lost his title! JMM for short is scared of Pacman as simple as that! Its not about big money he is not prepared for a title fight with Pacman yet! That's y he goes to Indonesia to challenge an unknown contender who become known as Chris John of Indonesia for JMM its like practicing an Asian boxer for his wanted revenge for Pacman its more like that! the boxing style of JMM is more the same with Marco Antonio Barrera so if who among them is the best with that style will have the honor to fight the pacman so so long with u amigos adios... |
