 Trainer to the stars Freddie roach, and we can say that since the man coaches both Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya, caught up with Boxing Confidential following Israel Vazquez's tough loss to Rafael Marquez.
Roach discusses his fighter's defeat, prior to his departure to Puerto Rico, where he will be training Oscar De La Hoya.

| With all the distractions in the Pacman’s way which Pacman himself willingly entered into, I doubt very much if he can still win his fights very convingly. HE HAS ONLY HIMSELF TO BLAME. It is very disheartening that his words cannot be trusted anymore. He will say he is NOT running for any political office. Suddenly, he will say he is running. Very bad attributes of one who wants to enter the troublesome world of politics. [With all those psychopants surrounding him!!!!!!]. GOD BLESS NALANG, SA `YO, MANNY. YOU ARE THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR SHIP. | It's about time everyone stopped worshipping at the shrine of Freddie Roach. Roach is an ordinary trainer who has spread himself so thin he ignores even the most basic needs of the fighters who depend on him. Roach has made money his God and his selfish moves have undermined many fighters who deserved better. Shit, when is everyone going to see that Roach has even given Manny a great big "Sayonara" now that he has De La Hoya's ass to kiss. Everyone at the Wild Card is fed up with Freddie and, after Freddie collects his million dollars from De La Hoya he will have an empty gym to return to. If Manny is smart he'll look for another trainer. |

| shut-up oscar, obviously you don't know what fred roach have done to manny pacyaw! When manny lost to a thai boxer, roach was the only one who believes on manny that he can be a future great boxer! before roach arrive on manny's team, manny was a nobody in the world of International boxing! You should know that boy! Manny had so much to repay to fred roach that it is only very practical for manny to give roach what he deserves as a coach/trainer!!! | Marquez outboxed Vazquez and was still a even fight the whole way through it, Marquez continued to land clean combos and big shots sending Vazquez back - even with the broken nose Vazquez showed true grit and kept coming forward, plus if you look at the end of the 7th rd the exchange between the two, I'd have to say Vazquez took that round - but rematch, cannot wait for what should be another war!!!!!! |

What makes a fighter a winner is his staying power. Manny is doing it right. Proper preparation to go the distance. He has a big heart, a strong chin,firepower and the will to go 20 rounds. Manny does not need Roach on his corner come fight night. He is just one advisor that can be replaced by anyone like Buboy or even a well known politician in his corner. Remember that when a fighter enters the ring, he is now on his own.
Let's not blame Roach for leaving all his fighters for Oscar's $1M. Deep in Roach's heart he knows that he is not really a factor in any fight. He won't do the fighting nor scoring or anything else! I have to admit though that his strenght and stamina training is good. He understand the meaning of going the distance and that's what Manny Pacquiao already know. Boxing is a business and whereever the money is, that where they should be. I believe Roach charge 10% of whatever Manny's purse is. All Manny need is a good cutman and a well known insider like Finkel if the latter take a lesser cut. |

| If Pacman was fighting Barrera or Marquez and he had all these distractions going on...I would worry...but "Solis"??? Come on! I don't blame you paclanders for your feelings of hatred and disgust to Pacman's situation. I am not surprised if pacman will lost in his upcoming fights. I put the blame to the people around him especially politicians who are riding on pacman's fame- Atty Gacal, Atienza, Chavit Singson (to name a few names). A person with good and sincire thinking will not advise pacman to enter politics.
Pacquiao better think twice. Why are you in a hurry? Like what I've said in my 'payong kapatid', concentrate on 2 things- education and boxing. These two can mix without causing problems or conflick unlike boxing and politics. You can go to school yet train in the gym after school or vise versa. I would like to say again my best advice, enroll in a law school. This will help a lot in the future when its time to enter politics maybe when you reach the age of 40's or mid thirthies.
People around you now are corrupting your mind. please don't let your money and fame corrupt your thinking? Think good and stick to it. Hindi paiba-iba ang desisyon kasi masamang senyalis iyon. |
